However, with the end of these incentives, consumer interest in electric vehicles has rapidly decreased. As of August, only 27,000 fully electric vehicles have been sold.

Sales of German automotive giants also affected

This decline did not only affect electric vehicles. Major German car manufacturers such as Volkswagen, Mercedes , BMW and Audi also experienced serious declines in sales. Market share and sales decline rates by brand are as follows:

• Volkswagen : 18% market share , 23% decrease in sales.
• Mercedes : 9.9% market share , 15.5% decrease in sales.
• BMW : 8.2% market share , 23% decrease in sales.
• Audi : 6.9% market share , 36.6% decrease in sales.

These declines reflect the general stagnation in the electric vehicle market, while sales of gasoline vehicles saw a milder decline. Sales of gasoline vehicles fell by 7%, while hybrids remained almost stable, falling by only 1.5%. Diesel vehicles fell by 24%.
